Our Origin Story
In 1993, Jim Jessup and Mateo Barraza met in high school and immediately clicked as friends but had no idea they’d become ideal business partners, bonded by their drive to create valuable products.
Post-high school, Jim spent 12 years in IT management and eventually founded an MSP, Affinity Managed Service in 2011. Meanwhile, Mateo started a software development agency and spent 13 years building useful products for brands such as Morgan Stanley, Verizon, and Fidelity.
One day, Mateo came across a pain point described by a client, and Mateo realized that there was an acute need for a self-service password reset product for MSPs. So, he reached out to Jim to discuss the idea, and a spark was lit.
With their unique experience combined, Jim and Mateo knew they could build a truly remarkable product that would free up time, resources, and money for MSPs—not to mention make life easier for countless IT professionals.
In 2018, Jim and Mateo started CyberQP (formerly Quickpass) and quickly gained momentum, thanks to their passion for creating a helpful product. As soon as MSPs tried CyberQP, they couldn’t live without it. At conferences, partners excitedly shared how CyberQP eliminated IT tickets and empowered their teams to work more quickly and efficiently.
In subsequent years, as the global workforce became more dispersed and remote-first work became more common, CyberQP became an even more meaningful tool, and the company continued to expand its product offerings to help MSPs manage privileged accounts, meet compliance requirements, and guard against cyber attacks and ransomware.
Today, Jim and Mateo have over 41 years of combined experience in IT, cyber security, and product development, and they continue to advance CyberQP to meet the ever-evolving needs of MSPs.
The founders’ deep empathy for MSPs, passion for creating truly helpful products, and dedication to incorporating partner feedback permeates the culture at CyberQP— which now comprises 50+ people spanning numerous continents, all laser-focused on creating real value for MSPs and continually improving product features and offerings.
